Fellow Trappers and Outdoor Enthusiasts,

When the Anti’s are attacking trappers like never before, our membership numbers are falling. What is wrong with this picture? The U.P. Trappers Association is on a mission to double or triple our number of members by the end of the year. But we desperately need your help to make this happen.

We are starting this mission with District 2 – which encompasses Iron, Ontonagon, and Gogebic counties. If you are a trapper, an ADC trapper, a predator hunter, or someone interested in learning about trapping in Ontonagon, Gogebic, or Iron County, we invite you to our District 2 Re-Organization meeting at Twilly’s Sports Bar and Grill located at 13909 US Hwy 45, Bruce Crossing MI 49912 at 10am EST / 9am CST on Saturday, March 29, 2025. A simple meal of pulled-pork sandwiches, a couple of salads, and coffee and water will be provided.

We invite you to join the U.P. Trappers Association, an organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing the trapping community. Our mission includes:

– Providing workshops to improve your skills and engage the next generation in trapping.

– Hosting fun-filled and educational conventions at the U.P. State Fairgrounds in Escanaba Michigan: Vendors, Kid’s Events, Educational Demos – and so much more!

– Keeping you informed about threats to trapping and offering suggestions on how to help.

– Ensuring new trappers operate safely and ethically through our Trappers Ed Program.

– Advocating for longer seasons and increased bag limits when appropriate.

– Collaborating with other clubs and associations to strengthen our collective voice.

– And so much more….

Below is a printable link to a special membership form for those residing in these three counties and a link to our normal membership form that can also be printed out and mailed in to the proper District, if you wish to join another District.

Since our founding on January 21, 1962, we have been fighting for your rights as trappers. Join us in our efforts to preserve and promote the benefits of trapping. Together, we can make a difference.

If you live in District 2, we hope to see you at Twilly’s on March 29 with your check, your filled out membership form, and a desire to participate and get involved in fulfilling our efforts in getting District 2 running again and tripling our membership. If you have the drive to really make this happen, District 2 needs a full slate of officers. Ryan Koivu is presently the President and only officer and really needs some dedicated help. He is willing to stay on in some capacity but would support someone with “fire in their belly” that could not only revitalize District 2 but take it to a whole new level as the new President, if that is what is decided at this important meeting.

Ryan (and what’s left of District 2), and the UP Trappers would like to thank Jeff Alberts for his 32 years of service to District 2 – and for taking on both the Secretary and Treasurer’s jobs for most or maybe all those year’s!
